Launching Problem

By Guest 4 years ago

Today I bought Far Cry 2, and when i launched it all it had was a black screen, does anyone know why this happened, then it gave me a message saying it will ask for the CD Key and i have it, but it never says for it.

Also be serious.

Sometimes FC2 chooses to or not to load :|

It happens sometimes, but a restart usually fixes it.

Okay, what? You just contradicted yourself in one sentence..

then it gave me a message saying it will ask for the CD Key and i have it,
but it never says for it.
Then how come you're saying it did ask for it when you then follow it with it didn't ask for it? Have you tried a reboot?

I think hes saying the program says it will ask him for a cd key which he does legally own but it never does. Try going to(user)\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 2 folder and open up GamerProfile.xml. Find (Maximized="0") change it to a 1 and save. Problem solved almost. Now load game and go to options and change dx9 to dx10 and accept then quit game. load game and go back to options and change your resolution to what ever you like then accept and play.

Try fiddling with the vsync option in the same folder; that might have something to do with it.

Sorry I haven't played FC2 in a while, its sitting in the back of my closet and long uninstalled but I had this problem too. You could try going back to "GamerProfile.xml" and open it with wordpad or notepad then Change Platform="d3d9" to Platform="d3d10".

Make sure the gamerprofile.xml file isn't trying to set your resolution at something your monitor doesn't support.
